More In-State NFL Prospects Than Utah State, Utah, and BYU

According to NFL Draft Scouts, Southern Utah Thunderbirds football has more NFL prospects in the upcoming draft eligible class than in-state schools Utah State, Utah, and BYU. Don’t be surprised to see three of its defensive stars playing on Sundays next year.
James Cowser, the all-time FCS leader in tackles for a loss, is currently ranked 8th out of 219 defensive ends. Cornerback LeShaun Sims – he of the 4.34, 40-yard dash time, and strong safety teammate Miles Killebrew are also getting a ton of attention from NFL scouts.
In fact, according to the Desert News, “In 2012, in the lead-up to Brad Sorensen being drafted by the San Diego Chargers, it wasn’t unusual to see a scout or two at the SUU football games. Now, in the Cowser, Killebrew, Sims era, seeing numerous scouts at a single practice is just another day.”
