Playoffs So Far
Mount Union breezed through the first three rounds virtually unchallenged. After shutting out Washington & Lee 21-0 in the first round, they blew out Case Western Reserve 45-16 and Frostburg 70-37 before their semifinal matchup with UW Oshkosh.
Last Saturday against the Titans proved much more interesting for UMU. The Purple Raiders overcame a 25 point deficit in the second half to beat Oshkosh 43-40 and advance to their 12th Stagg Bowl in the last 13 years.
Mary Hardin-Baylor's journey to the championship has been, if anything, easier. The Cru have only allowed 16 points total in their four 2017 playoff games, including shutouts of Linfield in the second round and Brockport in last weekend's semifinal.
The closest anyone has gotten to unseating the defending champions was St. Thomas, who only lost by 14 (24-10) in the third round.

Last Meeting
This is a rematch of last year's semifinal, when UMHB beat UMU 14-12 to end the Purple Raider's string of 11 Stagg Bowl appearances in a row. Obviously, this was a close game throughout, but the best moment was probably when UMHB punter Baylor Mullins completed a 10 yard pass on 4th and 4 to seal the Cru win.
