D3 football may not invoke the same type of national attention as its D1 counterparts, but it occasionally grabs the attention of big-time celebrities. Case in point, NBA Most Valuable Player, Champion, and all-around superstar Stephen Curry attended Guilford’s Homecoming game vs Averett Saturday night.
Steph’s uncle Cleive Adams is the head coach at Averett and the reigning NBA Champ came to see his team play.
Unfortunately for the MVP, it was Guilford who put on a spectacular show for their guest, securing a 58-21 victory over Averett. Quarterback Matt Pawlowski finished with 331 yards and five touchdowns.
After scouring the web, all we have are a few candid shots of Curry wandering the sidelines with his entourage — resembling something of a slow-moving parade — and a very brief glimpse at the star, but hey, it’s better than nothing.
