Super Bowl MVPs: The Complete List from Bart Starr to Tom Brady

From Super Bowl records that may never be broken to players who had the Sunday of their lives and were never heard from again, Super Bowl MVPs have come in all shapes, sizes, and positions (unless you're a punter or kicker, in which case you're still out of luck).

Heck, guessing who will win the MVP award in the big game is such an engaging topic that you can even bet on it if you so choose.

Some interesting facts about NFL Super Bowl MVPs that you might not be aware of:

  • The very first award was given to Bart Starr of the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl 1
  • The only winner of the award to come from a losing team was Chuck Howley of the Dallas Cowboys in Super Bowl 5
  • The only team to have co-MVP winners was the Cowboys when Harvey Martin and Randy White shared the award in Super Bowl 12
  • The only players to win the award two years in a row are Bart Starr and Terry Bradshaw (Pittsburgh Steelers)
  • Tom Brady's four MVP trophies for New England are tops in the league, followed by Joe Montana's three for San Francisco
  • Desmond Howard (Green Bay, Super Bowl 31) is the only special teams player to win the award.
