Texas Tech’s Egregious Flop Prompts Hilarious Marcus Smart Dig

Texas Tech’s Egregious Flop Prompts Hilarious Marcus Smart Dig

Kansas, you've been Marcus Smarted, again.

Marcus Smart hasn't played in the Big 12 since 2014, when he concluded an outstanding three-year career at Oklahoma State that included All-American and Big 12 Player of the Year honors. However, he'll also be known by as a master flopper, a reputation he's carried into the NBA.

And one Jayhawk hasn't forgot about the former foe's antics. Landen Lucas never actually played against Smart's Cowboys, earning DNPs in both of KU's games against Oklahoma State as a redshirt freshman in 2013-14. But Lucas still fondly remembers the dramatic guard's flopping, prompting him to launch a hilarious shot at Smart after witnessing an embarrassing flop in Kansas' win over Texas Tech on Saturday.

During the 85-68 win, Lucas agitated Red Raiders' forward Anthony Livingston, approaching him with some chatter and request for the ball after Livingston fouled Frank Mason in the first half. Livingston then submitted an entry for Flop of the Year:

It didn't work. In fact, Livingston drew a technical for words that ensued after the flop. And Lucas was very amused and impressed with his glaring ability.

"I was surprised my glare sent him back that much,” a chuckling Lucas told the Kansas City Star. “It reminded me of somebody who used to play out at Oklahoma State.”

Kansas plays Oklahoma State on Jan. 14.
