The Best Women’s Basketball Players Ever From the State of California

Lisa Leslie (USC)

USC's Lisa Leslie, of Hawthorne, blazed a trail of greatness in her four years leading the Women of Troy from 1991-94. Appearing in a total of 120 games over her four-year career, she totaled 2,414 points (20.1 per game), had 1,214 rebounds (10.1 per game), 208 assists, 321 blocks and 228 steals. Her senior year was her best as Leslie took home the WBCA and USBWA Player of the Year awards along with the Naismith Trophy. She was also named a D1 First Team All-American.

After leaving USC, she competed on three Olympic Teams (1996, 2000, 2004) and played for the Los Angeles Sparks in the WNBA for 12 seasons, averaging 17.3 points and 9.1 rebounds per game for her career. As a pro, Leslie won the WNBA MVP three times, won two championships and was named a Finals MVP twice. She retired after the 2009 season and was enshrined into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2015.
