In four decades of existence, the Sun Belt Conference has undergone several transformations. Originally formed in 1976 as a six-team conference, 29 schools have competed as full-time members in the league, and with constant conference realignment, it's likely that number will grow in the coming years.
Only one of the current teams, South Alabama, has remained in the conference since 1976 — Georgia State was a founding member before leaving in 1982 and returning in 2013. Despite the reshuffling in the young conference, it is laced with tantalizing history, including logo design.
Here are the best defunct logos in the history of each Sun Belt Conference team, in alphabetical order.
Note: We were unable to find a confirmed defunct logo for Louisiana – Lafayette. If you have one, please send it to us on Twitter.
