Tom Brady is widely regarded as one of the greatest NFL players to ever live. He is aiming to become the first player in NFL history to win six Super Bowl rings, but was unable to do that against the Philadelphia Eagles this week. Brady was still magnificent, though, breaking his own record to throw for over 500 yards, and that was without one of his best receivers for the whole game, as well as the loss of another during the game.

It is what we have come to expect from Brady: he is one of the greatest NFL players of all time, a player who seems to constantly be able to achieve the impossible, despite now being in his 40s.
We saw Brady at his best two weeks ago, when the New England Patriots came from behind to defeat the Jacksonville Jaguars. Yet again, alongside his teammates and coach, Brady showed a never-say-die attitude, and despite Jacksonville taking a big lead, there was always the thought that the Patriots could come back. That is exactly what they did and for as long as they have that kind of belief in the camp, they will always be a dangerous opponent, regardless of the scoreboard.
It should have perhaps come as little surprise to see the Philadelphia Eagles win the Super Bowl against the Patriots; they were the form team after all. Despite losing Carson Wentz, they had played some great football down the stretch, including recording a huge 38-7 win over the Minnesota Vikings. Their attitude and application have been spot on, and despite their underdog tag going into the game, there was plenty of reasons to think they could outperform Brady and the Eagles.
Looking forward to next season, the Patriots are sure to be involved in the closing stages once more with Brady on board. In the latest NFL betting, the Patriots are +500 favorites to win the 2019 Super Bowl and at that sort of price, many people will be interested. While they have not won this season, they have played with credit, and as ever, you can never discount the Patriots. The AFC looks to be full of teams who have question marks hanging over their heads, and that could leave a clear path for the Patriots to return to the Super Bowl.
It will be interesting to see how the Eagles respond next season, and with Carson Wentz back in the lineup, there is a chance they could challenge again. Nick Foles will more than likely be moved to another team so he can get another crack at a starting role, and whoever picks him up will have a Super Bowl-winning quarterback on a very cheap contract.
It wasn't the fairytale sixth Super Bowl for Tom Brady, but he will have other chances. One thing he did succeed in doing, though, was cement his position as one of the greatest American athletes of all time, and a man who is a joy to watch when at work. He did all he could to lift his team over the line, including breaking his own records, but even that wasn't enough to see off the Eagles.
