4. Blake Gimbel (Jr.) Southwest Minnesota State
Blake Gimbel has helped SWMSU to a 4-2 record to start the year (SW Minnesota Athletics)
Comp.-Att. (Pct.) | Passing Yards | Passing TD | INT |
---|---|---|---|
163-231 (70.6) | 1,875 | 18 | 7 |
Next on the countdown comes a player who started the year with a big upset victory over Minnesota-Duluth, usually one of the stronger programs in D2.
Since then, Gimbel has only matched his impressive yardage total (397) once, against Upper Iowa, where the junior logged 436 yards through the air. His accuracy has been impressive, as evidenced by his 70.6 completion percentage. That's a number even NFL quarterbacks strive to achieve, and Gimbel has routinely broken it on numerous occasions this season.
With a 4-2 record, SWMSU has some work to do if they're to reach the NCAA playoffs. If they do get there though, it will be on the arm of their "franchise" quarterback, Blake Gimbel.
