There is a very specific reason that you should watch this highlight video. It is actually the very first play on the film. It is not easy to give up a safety from your own 45-yard line, but that is precisely what Wake Forest managed to achieve on this play.
It starts with one of the most overzealous snaps in the history of college football. This is a snap which sails clear over the punter, and another 20 yards or so before it even hits the turf. He then chases after the ball and manages to recover it inside the five. He clearly has enough time to at least kick the ball a little down field and get it out of bounds, but instead he decides the best option is to tuck the ball under one arm and run parallel to the goal line at around his own two-yard line.
All it takes now is one semi-solid hit from a Syracuse defensive player and the ball is loose in the end zone where a Demon Deacon falls on it to prevent a touchdown. This Wake Forest safety might be the strangest plays in college football this season.
