Former Texas A&M QB Trevor Knight: Tennessee’s Neyland Stadium Most Intimidating In SEC

Former Texas A&M QB Trevor Knight: Tennessee’s Neyland Stadium Most Intimidating In SEC

Whether you like it or not, there's no arguing the SEC has the longest tradition of packing stadiums and creating a nearly impossible environment for opposing teams.

Look no further than a Saturday night college football game at Alabama, LSU or even Auburn. The noise is deafening.

Just think about this for a moment. Tennessee's Neyland Stadium seats 102,455 people, while LSU and Alabama aren't far behind with over 101,000 fans on a typical game day. In comparison — AT&T Stadium, the biggest in the NFL — hosts exactly 100,00 people.

"My favorite place to play this year was at Auburn….the loudest & most intimidating ever was Tennessee"

The big-boy college stadiums are bigger than pro stadiums, just another testament to the strength of the almighty pigskin down south. With the dominance of the Crimson Tide or the madness that festers in Cajun blood, one would probably assume 'Bama or LSU would create the most intimidating setting.

Former Texas A&M quarterback Trevor Knight had an interesting take though, saying Tennessee's Neyland Stadium was the most intimidating place he's played. Maybe isn't overly surprising considering it's one of the biggest stadiums in college football, but the Vols haven't exactly been one of the top-tier squads in the SEC as of late, yet their fans remain raucous and rowdy.

Knight played at Alabama, South Carolina and Mississippi State during his short stint with the Aggies. Let's not forget he came from Oklahoma where he played on the road at Texas, West Virginia, Baylor, Oklahoma State and plenty of other big-name venues. It's also fair to mention Kyle Field at Texas A&M is actually bigger than Neyland, but Knight was a member of the home team after all.

It would be fun to poll like 1,000 former SEC players and get their take. This feels like something that would very from player to player, depending on their experience, but you would think Bama, LSU and now Tennessee would be at the top of most lists.
