Idaho dropped from the FBS to FCS for the 2018 college football season, but the FBS will remain at 130 members with the addition of Liberty. The Flames, who began playing football in the NAIA in 1973 (and moved to Division II 1981 and the FCS in 1989), are a transitional member this season and will have full membership in 2019.
Liberty will play as an Independent in 2018 (and for the foreseeable future), increasing the number of Independents to six for this season.

Answer
Army
BYU
Liberty
New Mexico State
Notre Dame
UMass
Army, BYU, Notre Dame and UMass played as Independents in 2017. New Mexico State, however, is new to the group; the Aggies were booted from the Sun Belt, a move that head coach Doug Martin didn't mind.
