No. 47 Hunter Reese
Troy – LB
Not only did Hunter Reese have zero scholarship offers after an all-county high school career at Wetumpka (Ala.) High School, he couldn't even join Troy as a walk-on until after school started in 2014.
Four years later, Reese is an all-conference player who's thrived in the Trojans' "bandit" position, hybrid of sorts with duties similar to defensive end and linebacker. He had 14 tackles for loss and five sacks in 13 games last year, his first year playing more than six games
"We’re fabricating things to try to create pressure because our ability to cover when [we] blitz is something we’ve not done a good job with,” defensive coordinator Vic Koenning said last November. “We’re trying to blitz strategically and get pressure. [Reese] done a good job of finding the gaps and hitting the gaps.”
Hunter Reese is the best No. 47 in college football.
