Nebraska defeated Florida in the 1996 Fiesta Bowl to cap an undefeated 1995 season (11-0), their second straight undefeated season. That's the last time an FBS program has posted consecutive undefeated seasons.
In their first 21 seasons in the FBS, UCF won at least 10 games four times, but the Knights never went undefeated. With a win over LSU in the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 1, UCF would become the fifth FBS team with back-to-back undefeated seasons since the end of World War II, as noted by J.P. Scott of SlapTheSign:
Michigan: 1947-48
Oklahoma: 1954-55
Toledo: 1968-70
Penn State: 1968-69
Nebraska: 1994-95
Entering bowl games, three other FBS teams are undefeated — Alabama, Clemson and Notre Dame — but none of them went undefeated last year, too.
