The Bruins opened as 6.5-point favorite, but that line quickly moved to 3.5 points. With an over/under of 74.5 points, the oddsmakers are expecting a track meet in this matchup. (For up-to-date odds on the UCLA-Memphis matchup, click here).
UCLA heads into the game 2-0 and ranked No. 25 in the AP poll after a 45-44 win over Texas A&M in week 1 and a 56-23 win over Hawaii in week 2.
Memphis is 1-0 on the season after defeating Louisiana-Monroe 37-29 in the season opener. Last week's game against Central Florida was canceled because of Hurricane Irma.
UCLA is averaging nearly 530 yards per game over its first two contests and has allowed 493 yards per game defensively. In its single game this year, Memphis put up 416 yards and allowed 425 total yards. UCLA has scored 50.5 points per game and allowed 33.5; Memphis — as you saw above — scored 37 and gave up 29 in its opening game.
Expect fireworks when these two teams hit the field on Saturday, as both teams feature QBs with big arms — Josh Rosen and Riley Ferguson — and offenses that can score points quickly. Neither defense has shown an ability to keep the other team off of the scoreboard, either, which is a recipe for a ton of points this weekend.
Maybe consider taking the over on that 74.5 over/under.
