BR-4 Clemson is having a big week. Three days after grabbing the No. 1 spot in the College Football Playoff rankings, the athletic department held a groundbreaking ceremony for a lavish new football complex. Construction will begin on the 140,000-square foot, $55 million facility next month, with a target completion date of Feb. 2017.
The new operations building, fully financed by the athletic department and IPTAY (the school’s letterwinners association) will feature new meetings rooms and locker rooms but also a player’s lounge that includes a barber’s shop, arcade, golf simulator, bowling alley and even laser tag, among other entertainment amenities.
“We are very excited and very appreciative of the approval of this project and a new day-to-day home of our program,” said head coach Dabo Swinney. “It will allow our operation to be in one place, which will be a great benefit to our student-athletes, coaches and football administration. This complex will be one of the best in the nation and allow us to continue our pursuit to be the best program in the country.”
