VOTE: D3 Football Play of the Week (Week 2)

VOTE: D3 Football Play of the Week (Week 2)

Week 2 of D3 Football is in the books, people. And we're left salivating over some pretty ridiculous plays. It's too bad SportsCenter doesn't give the lower divisions the time of day, because most of these deserve a place on the Top 10!

Vote for your favorite play in the poll below. We'll announce a winner when the vote closes Thursday at noon Pacific. To nominate a play next week, tweet the video (or a link to the video) to @HEROSportsD3FB. You can also email a link to [email protected]. If it's legit, we'll include it in next week's vote!

Let's do this thing.

JOHNSON’S MONSTER CATCH SETS UP ENDICOTT WIN

I can’t decide which was better: the game between Endicott and Bridgewater, in which the Gulls drove the length of the field in less than two minutes and capped off a surprising come-from-behind 29-28 victory; or this play by Brendan Johnson, who Odell Beckham-ed Joe Kalosky’s 51-yard Hail Mary that put their team on the right side of the field with 30 seconds to go.

MCCARTHY MUSCLES HIS WAY INTO THE END ZONE

Tim McCarthy will not be denied the end zone – #Touchdown, @UWRFFootball!@UWRFFALCONS now lead 14-3 #D3FB pic.twitter.com/IKUkaU8cYI

One-handed catches are great, but bulldozing your way into the end zone is just as awesome. Leading 7-3, River Falls QB Travon Hearns hit receiver Tim McCarthy in stride, and the big guy plowed through defenders to put six more on the board. River Falls defeated Gustavus Adolphus 20-12.

Later, in that same game, Josh Kirk caught a 42-yard pass from QB Michael Veldman in the end zone that cut the lead to eight with two minutes to go. And while the game itself ended in a loss for Gustavus Adolphus, Veldman had himself a day with 334 passing yards and a touchdown.

REDMAN LEAPS FOR TOUCHDOWN RECEPTION

Holy Moly is right, Paul Davis. @wjredmond11 made an #SCTop10 worthy catch today. #d3fb pic.twitter.com/ilLNiOwRnS

— Simpson Storm Sports (@StormSports) September 10, 2017

Speaking of one-handed catches, Jackson Redman pulled off a doozy against Illinois College. With the game already locked up — Simpson led 31-6 with 13:58 to go — QB Sam Sasso chucked a high-arching deep ball into the end zone. Redman jumped over defenders and pulled the rock down with one hand to add six more points to the blowout. These guys better be careful. One-handed catches may not be as cool if everyone is doing it!

RAMSDELL LAYS IT ALL ON THE LINE AGAINST WPI

FB | TOUCHDOWN! #RPIFB goes for it on 4th and 3 and it's Ramsdell with the tremendous catch in the back of the endzone! 14-0 | 1st #d3fb pic.twitter.com/p18OPsmKLC

— RPI Athletics (@RPIAthletics) September 9, 2017

No running back plays today, huh? Oh well, at least these receivers put on a show. Check out this gnarly catch by RPI stud Johnny Ramsdell, who basically went full Pete Rose-mode in the end zone. Even more impressive, it was 4th-and-3 when he made the spectacular catch, which has to be oh-so-demoralizing for a defense. As it turns out, RPI ended up defeating WPI 36-14. So, yeah.
