Marshall was one of the better mind-major stories on college football. Then last year happened. After winning 33 games over a three-year span, the Thundering Herd fell apart inexplicably last season, falling to a 3-9 record and looking wretched in just about every aspect of the game.
While a bounce back season to bowl eligibility would seem to be unlikely, it is really true that no one knows what to expect from Marshall this fall. An athletic, and playmaking front seven on defense is nice, but some sort of running game will have to emerge quickly to avoid another lost season.
