Eddy Pineiro has a serious leg. The JUCO kicker from ASA College in Miami committed to Alabama in June but has since taken an official visit to Florida on Nov. 27, leading to speculation that the 6-1, 180-pounder could stay closer to home and flip to the Gators.
“I have been committed to them (Alabama) for three months,” Pineiro told Scout.com after taking an unofficial visit to The Swamp in October. “It’s the school I want to go to, but this recruiting game is crazy and you never know what can happen. It’s always nice to stay closer to home. I want to take my official visit to Alabama and really see the school and game environment. Florida is very high in my mind as well, so we’ll see what happens.”
Pineiro, who is also considering Georgia and Miami (FL), is completing his final semester at ASA and will enroll with his new school in the spring. He has not lost any NCAA eligibility and will have four years remaining. Whichever team receives his final pledge will be getting arguably the strongest leg in the nation.
On Tuesday, Pineiro posted a video to Twitter that shows him nailing a 77-yard field goal. It came without a snap, against no defense and while wearing no gear but is still a remarkable boot for the youngster.
