Most NFL fantasy football leagues are coming down the home stretch with the playoffs starting on week 14 or 15. Sadly, my current 1-11 mark in my Bay Area-based league is going to fall just shy of the postseason. I would show you a screenshot of the standings, but this is a family website, and there's no need to be traumatized. However, for those of you looking to lock down a playoff bid or secure a first-round bye, here are a few week 13 waiver wire pickups that could make all the difference.

Let's be honest here: Unless you have someone named Travis Kelce or Zach Ertz, it's been a disappointing season at the tight end position. A season-ending injury to a previous waiver wire gem, O.J. Howard, makes finding a capable and warm body that much more difficult.
Take a look at the Rams' Gerald Everett. Jared Goff found him three times for 49 yards and a pair of scores in the squad's epic 54-51 win over Kansas City a few weeks back. Everett provides additional value considering the Rams face a Lions team that appears to have packed it in already.

If you play in a running-back heavy league like mine, finding a quality RB on the wire has been slim pickings for weeks. Penny had a fantastic 108-yard rushing performance to go along with a score against the Rams in week 10, but with Chris Carson's return, the carries have dwindled.
Then again, running back beggars can't exactly be choosers this time of year.

This waiver wire pickup comes with a caveat: Will QB Mitch Trubisky be cleared to play Sunday against the Giants?
If so, Miller — who found the end zone a trio of times over the past five contests — could be a solid flex play as he looks to replicate the five receptions, 122 yards, and one TD courtesy of Trubisky during a November 11 win over the Lions.
