Week 9 College Football Power Rankings

It was a huge week in College Football and we have another big week coming up. There were some massive shakeups as well. However, Alabama remains on top of the AP Top 25 as well as the odds at the best sports betting sites. Clemson falls to No. 4 even though they are still firmly listed as +350 to win the National Title.

So what’s the new order? Let’s look at the AP’s Top 20 first then dissect it all.

1. Alabama
2. LSU
3. Ohio State
4. Clemson
5. Oklahoma
6. Penn State
7. Florida
8. Notre Dame
9. Auburn
10. Georgia
11. Oregon
12. Utah
13. Wisconsin
14. Baylor
15. Texas
16. SMU
17. Minnesota
18.Cincinnati
19. Michigan
20. Iowa

Clemson was No. 1 a couple of weeks ago, but they were leap-frogged by Alabama. Now, not only have they been jumped by LSU, but Ohio State as well. In a lot of ways, it feels like Oklahoma should be ranked No. 4. Clemson is the defending champ and all, but that was last year. They have the weakest schedule of all of the top programs and they darn near lost to UNC. Yet, they still hang in the Top 4.

Alabama’s tide is still rolling but there might be troubled waters ahead. Tua took a high ankle sprain and when he left the game against the Vols, the entire offense looked … not nearly as good. Luckily for the program, they face a dreadful Arkansas team next week before facing a brutal LSU squad on November 9th. If Bama tried to take on LSU right now, it would be by-by playoffs.

LSU looks like the No. 1 team in the country right now. After a bit of a slow start against the Bulldogs, the Tigers got their offense rolling and everyone got into the action. Though it won’t be an easy road for them. They have to face No. 9 Auburn and then Alabama. It will be interesting to see how the Bama QB situation is looking. If Tua is healthy, this meeting could be the game of the year.

Ohio State didn’t suffer and silly road-losses under their new leadership this season … at least not yet. Can you believe how tough this team is? Northwestern and Nebraska, both away games … they only managed to put up 10 points between the two of them against this Ohio State defense!

Clemson beat Louisville 45-10 … but it was a sloppy start. Not what Clemson needs against a mediocre ACC team. If they struggle in any of their remaining games, we could see Oklahoma replace them in that No. 4 spot.

Oh How the Mighty Have Fallen

Georgia was once on the inside looking … well … in. Now they are way on the outside. So far they can’t even look in. They struggled on offense against the Wildcats and now reside in the very last spot in the Top-10. If this continues, they might just end up losing to Florida on November 2nd and then we have to consider the Gators to move up from that No. 7 spot.

Wisconsin was undefeated … when they fell to Illinois, they fell hard. All the way down to No. 13. This was the game that ruined their season, and for the Illini, it was the game of the last 5 seasons. To them, just as good as a New Years’ Six Bowl win.

Washington straight fell out of the rankings with their loss to Oregon. The Ducks were down 28-14 in the 3rd, and then the Huskies defense fell apart and Oregon did what Oregon does; pick you apart on offense.
