Eighty different schools have at least one receiver on NFL Week 1 rosters (as of Monday, Sept. 3). But only two schools have more than four receivers, and only one conference has at least 20 receivers.
The 134 receivers on Week 1 rosters hail from 80 different schools and 24 different conferences. Twenty-nine schools have multiple receivers, including three Group of Five schools (Colorado State, East Carolina and SMU) and one FCS school (Grambling). Of the 14 schools with at least three receivers, only one is in the Group of Five (SMU). Fourteen conferences have multiple receivers, including two Division-II conferences (Great Midwest and Gulf South), and of the six conferences with at least 10 receivers, only one is in the Group of Five (American).
Texas Tech has the most receivers among all schools with seven, a group headlined by Danny Amendola, Michael Crabtree and Keke Coutee. Clemson's six receivers include DeAndre Hopkins, Sammy Watkins and Mike Williams.
Georgia, LSU and Notre Dame have four apiece, followed by nine schools with three each, among them Alabama, Cal and Washington.
Despite not having a school with more than four receivers, the SEC dominates the conference list. The league's 30 Week 1 receivers are 12 more than the
ACC (18) and more than double that of the Pac-12 (14), Big 12 (14) and Big Ten (13). The American (10) is the only other conference with more than five receivers. The two Division-II conferences — Great Midwest and Gulf South — are tied with two FBS conferences, MAC and Sun Belt.
