His career totals include 224 total tackles, 129 solo, 67 tackles for loss, 36 sacks, eight forced fumbles and three interceptions. He is listed at 6-foot-1, 310 pounds, showing his athleticism can be used all across the defensive front.
INSIDE LINEBACKER: Nick DeLuca, North Dakota State (No. 14 ILB)
DeLuca looked to be a top defensive player in the FCS last year as a senior and a mid-round NFL Draft pick until a shoulder injury ended his season after three games. The NCAA granted him a fifth year and he looks to shine after racking up 135 tackles in 2015. He has great size at 6-foot-3, 248 pounds, and will show his speed this season playing both inside and outside linebacker.
OUTSIDE LINEBACKER: Pat Afriyie, Colgate (No. 31 OLB)
At defensive end, Afriyie was fourth in the FCS with 10 sacks and 21 tackles for loss. He is 6-foot-2 and 240 pounds with great versatility. Afriyie is third in Colgate history with 24 career sacks with 21 starts and 36 games played.
CORNERBACK: Deion Harris, North Dakota (No. 14 CB)
Harris has shot up NFL Draft boards and likely will even more in 2017. The Big Sky Conference isn't shy about throwing the football around, so he'll get his opportunities to make plays. With elite size at 6-foot-3, Harris had 36 tackles, 14 passes defended and led the conference with five interceptions in 2016.
FREE SAFETY: Mike Basile, Monmouth (No. 16 FS)
Starting in all 33 games since a freshman, Basile has recorded 307 career tackles. Throw in 20 tackles for loss, four sacks and seven interceptions, the 6-foot-1, 200-pounder is all over the field for the Hawks.
STRONG SAFETY: Cole Reyes, North Dakota (No. 17 SS)
Reyes opened eyes in 2016 as a junior and was named the Big Sky Defensive Player of the Year to go along with six all-American teams. Despite missing two games due to injury, he was second on the team with 70 tackles. Reyes added 6.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions and eight pass break-ups.
