Teams Who’ve Offered the Most 2021 Recruits: Tennessee and Kentucky in Front

Tennessee made scholarship offers to 490 recruits in the 2020 class. Nine months before the early signing period for the 2021 class, the Vols have already made 423 offers to 2021 players, by far the most of any college football team.

The Vols' seven-commit 2021 class currently ranks 13th nationally and fifth in the SEC (247Sports). It's early. It's still very, very early, but as of now, it would be Tennessee's best recruiting class since Butch Jones landed two five-star and 14 four-star recruits in signing the nation's fourth-ranked and conference's second-ranked class in 2015, tying 2007 for the program's best class in the internet era.

As of March 23, Tennessee has offered 82 more 2021 recruits than the next most generous team, Kentucky, though the Wildcats' 341 offers have amounted to only three pledges, a commit rate of 0.88 percent, or roughly half of Tennessee's 1.65 percent.

Tennessee and Kentucky are two of eight FBS teams who've made at least 300 offers. And another 26 programs have made at least 200 offers. Last year, 28 programs made at least 300 offers and another 44 programs made at least 200 offers. And last year, for the second straight year, Southern Miss was the only program with at least 500 offers. The Golden Eagles' current 245 offers rank 19th nationally.

Here's the full list of offers, commitments, and commit rate for FBS teams as they face coronavirus-forced recruiting restrictions (and here are the 2020 numbers):
