The Vikings fell short of the chance to play a Super Bowl in their home stadium last year, but still had one of the most successful campaigns in recent years. They added Kirk Cousins to a roster that's already stacked and look to be back in the hunt in the NFC once again.
The 49ers, meanwhile, are quickly becoming one of the NFC's favorites after the success Jimmy Garoppolo had last fall and the pieces the team has put around him. San Francisco invested in the offensive line and made some moves in free agency to position themselves atop the NFC West.
This matchup will pit one of the best NFC teams from a season ago against one of the favorites to make a huge step forward this season.
