UConn played in a bowl game in 2022, its first since 2015. The Huskies followed up their 6-7 season with a disappointing 3-9 year, but head coach Jim Mora’s team was competitive in a few tight losses.
With better fortunes in one-possession games, the Huskies could find themselves bowling again in 2024. And while the schedule features four games against Power Four opposition, none of them are all that scary.
Reaching six wins is a realistic goal for UConn. The offense will need to take a step forward for that to happen, but the roster is talented enough to push for bowl eligibility.

UConn Football Brought In Talent Via The Transfer Portal
Mora and UConn’s NIL efforts deserve credit for a competitive transfer class. The group is headlined by former Oklahoma and Wisconsin quarterback Nick Evers, an extremely talented prospect who could finally earn meaningful playing time.
Whoever plays quarterback – UConn also returns Joe Fagnano – will have plenty of weapons. Returning running backs Cam Edwards and Victor Rosa will be matchup problems, and wide receivers Brett Buckman, Jasaiah Gathings, and TJ Sheffield are legitimate options at the position.
If the offensive line can hold up – a legitimate question mark – the offense should strike fear in several opponents.
Defensively, returning guys like Pryce Yates and Rante Jones gives the unit a chance to stifle weak offenses. The Huskies could legitimately flirt with a bowl game because of the offensive weapons added through the portal and the number of respectable defensive returners.
2024 UConn Football Season Prediction
Give me UConn going Over 4.5 wins.
The schedule is favorable with four Power Four opponents being the only scary aspect of the 12-game slate. Even then, Maryland, Duke, Wake Forest, and Syracuse aren’t elite P4 teams.
UConn hung with NC State (24-14 loss) and Boston College (21-14 loss) last season. The lack of offensive firepower held the Huskies back last fall in those games, but the transfer additions should lead to immediate improvements. I think UConn beats a Power Four team in 2024.
The rest of the schedule is favorable, with the Huskies seemingly capable of winning each of the other eight games on their schedule. Don’t be surprised to see UConn in a bowl game in 2024, especially if either Fagnano or Evers look competent at quarterback. The offensive weapons are there for the Huskies to improve significantly.
