Most people are aware Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Ed O’Neill, Matthew Fox, and Joel McHale played college football. If you didn’t, that’s okay, I didn’t either until I did the research. What most people don’t know, however, is a famous actor played quarterback at D2 football school Minot State.
Josh Duhamel, known to many as “husband of Fergie,” grew up in North Dakota and pursued a football career at Minot. He only seemed to start in 1993, then lost the job to Scott Mayer in 1994. Check out his stats:
Year | Games | Cmp | Att | Pct | Yds | Y/A | TD | Int |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1993 | 10 | 79 | 159 | 49.69 | 1,044 | 6.57 | 9 | 11 |
1994 | 11 | 16 | 31 | 51.61 | 198 | 6.39 | 1 | 0 |
Total | 21 | 95 | 190 | 50.00 | 1,242 | 6.54 | 10 | 11 |
Overall, they’re not the most impressive stats. They’re also not terrible, but if they were I don’t think it would stop them from inviting a famous actor alumni to come back and do this coin toss. From the Minot State University Facebook page, “MSU alumnus Josh Duhamel tosses the coin to start MSU’s first home football game of the year. The city of Minot could not ask for a better spokesperson, many thanks for all you’ve done for Minot Josh!”
