In the final week of the WNBA regular season, the Washington Mystics forward Myisha Hines-Allen and Las Vegas Aces forward A’ja Wilson took home Players of the Week honors.
Myisha Hines-Allen help lead the Washington Mystics (Eastern Conference) to a perfect 4-0 record last week averaging 24.3 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.3. assists. The defending champs clinched the final playoff spot on Sunday afternoon after a down-to-the-wire race. Washington will face the Phoenix Mercury on Tuesday, September 15.
Hines-Allen has been a steady and consistent force for the Mystics this season. The third-year player out of Louisville has elevated her game given the opportunity to play significant minutes leading them in scoring at 17 points, 8.9 rebounds in 30 minutes per game. It’s safe to say she deserves to be in the conversation for Most Improved Player, maybe even the front runner.
A’ja Wilson averaged 21.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game last week while leading the Las Vegas Aces (Western Conference) to a perfect 4-0 record and an eventual No. 1 WNBA Playoff seed. The Aces clinched a double-bye as the No. 1 seed and will not play until the September 20 Semifinals start. Las Vegas is currently riding a six game win streak headed into the playoffs.
