Trailing LSU, 16-7, midway through the second quarter in Week 11, Alabama needed a spark. They got one when Tua Tagovailoa hit DeVonta Smith for a 64-yard touchdown.
Smith burned Derek Stingley Jr. when the Tigers' freshman cornerback appeared to be caught off guard for a split second before the snap. Stingley was caught off guard because he was looking at the LSU sideline as Tagovailoa took the shotgun snap.
Why? Because it appeared Tagovailoa was checking for a sideline audible. Instead, it was a fake sideline check.
