The University of Arizona plans to hold on-campus classes for the fall semester, though that doesn't mean the football season will be played, president Dr. Robert Robbins said this week.
"I'm really concerned about whether we're going to be playing football in the fall," Robbins told 1030 KVOI AM in Tucson. "My sense, right now, I just don't see that happening."

His comments come one week after the school announced furloughs and pay cuts for employees and the same day Brett McMurphy released results of a survey in which 99 percent of 114 FBS athletic directors said they're optimistic the 2020 season will happen. Those results came one month after a similar survey in which 20 percent of ADs said there's a 50-50 chance of the season happening.
"What I've been hearing more of is that maybe doing something combining both basketball and football for the spring, so January-February 2021, and try to play both of them," Robbins added. "There will be all kind of implications for television viewing and confusion. I don't know. We just don't have any answers right now."
Arizona is scheduled to open the season vs. Hawai'i in Tucson on Saturday, Aug. 29.
