No. 51 Hjalte Froholdt
Arkansas – G
Hjalte Froholdt — pronounced Yell-duh Fro-holt — was pretty good at American football in his home country of Denmark but when he first played on American soil as a sophomore at Warren G. Harding High School in Warren, Ohio, things went poorly for the tight end and defensive end.
“The game was much faster and it took a lot of time to really get into it,” Froholdt recalled in 2015. “The first day of practice I got put on my butt 20 times. I thought I did really badly, but I thought that I might as well get back up and do it again to the best of my ability. And then I just kept going, and going. Eventually, I got better.”
He got so much better that FBS offers began rolling in and, after a return to Denmark and one semester at IMG Academy, he signed with Arkansas as a defensive tackle, the 15th-ranked defensive tackle in the entire 2015 class.
Froholdt appeared in 10 games for the Razorbacks' defense as a true freshman before switching to offense and immediately seizing the left guard spot. He hasn't given it up, starting the last 25 games and earning All-SEC First-Team honors from Pro Football Focus last year.
Now a 6-foot-5, 315-pound senior and potential pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, Hjalte Froholdt is the best No. 51 in college football.
