First it was last year’s Walter Payton Award winner John Robertson going down for the rest of the year. Today it was announced that Vad Lee, James Madison quarterback extraordinaire, had career-ending surgery on his left foot.
The announcement came today from Dukes’ head coach Everett Withers via Twitter.

After throwing for over 2,000 yards, rushing for over 1,000, and accounting for 32 touchdowns in two seasons at Georgia Tech, Lee transferred to James Madison and was an instant success.
In just 21 starts for the Dukes, Lee threw for 5,652 yards and 51 touchdowns with just 17 interceptions. He also destroyed defenses with his legs, running for 1,640 yards and another 17 scores.
Watch below as Lee helped lead the Dukes to a stunning 48-45 upset over FBS foe SMU earlier this season.
