NCAA Tournament: Wisconsin vs. High Point Prediction, Odds, And How To Watch

While many are fixated on what Miami (Ohio) has done as a mid-major, High Point has been pretty successful as well.

The Panthers are 30-4 overall. They’ve won their last 14 games, though some of them lately have been by a narrow margin. They went 15-1 against teams in the Big South during the regular season and, while being led by head coach Flynn Clayman, won the conference title over Winthrop – the lone conference team to beat High Point this season.

High Point will get its chance to prove itself as a top-notch mid-major in the NCAA Tournament. The Panthers, as a No. 12 seed, are taking on No. 5-seeded Wisconsin. With Greg Gard as their head coach, the Badgers are 24-10 overall. They went 14-6 in the Big Ten, losing 68-65 to Michigan in the conference tournament semifinals.

I predict High Point will win and therefore cover the 10.5-point spread. I also project the game will go Over 164.5 total points.

High Point is an excellent team, and I think the Panthers will showcase that right away in March Madness.

Terry Anderson is the leader for High Point. He’s averaging a team-best 16 points and six rebounds per game while shooting 56% from the floor. 

But the Panthers are a strong team collectively. They’re third in the country in scoring with 90 PPG and are also top 20 with a 49.14% field goal percentage.

They’re also second with a plus-7.1 turnover margin – Wisconsin is outside of the top 100. High Point is also 13th in the nation with a 1.74 assist-to-turnover ratio.

The Panthers also thrive when the game is up-tempo. They’re third in the country with 18.88 fast-break points per game. 

I think High Point is going to manage to score plenty in this matchup and will ultimately upset Wisconsin.
