The Siena men’s basketball team is heading to the 2026 NCAA Tournament after winning the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. In the MAAC Tournament, the Saints defeated Mount St. Mary’s 63-58, Fairfield 76-61, and Merrimack 64-54 in the championship game.
The Saints are 23-11 entering the Big Dance and on a 4-game winning streak.
Siena NCAA Tournament Appearances
In 2026, Siena basketball will make its 7th appearance in the Division I NCAA Tournament.
The Saints also reached the tourney in 1989, 1999, 2002, 2008, 2009, and 2010. They qualified for the 2020 tournament, but it was canceled due to COVID.

Siena Basketball NCAA Tournament Wins
Siena has won four games in the Division I NCAA Tournament, defeating Stanford in 1989, Alcorn State in 2002, Vanderbilt in 2008, and Ohio State in 2009.
The Saints have a 4-7 overall record in the Big Dance.
Siena Basketball Coach Gerry McNamara
Gerry McNamara is in his second season as Siena’s head coach. He was hired on March 29, 2024.
After going 14-18 in his first season, the Saints have won 23 games heading into the NCAA Tournament. That first season saw a 10-win improvement compared to the previous year. McNamara was named one of 16 finalists for the Joe B. Hall Award, which is presented annually to the top first-time Division I men’s basketball head coach.
Before Siena, McNamara spent 15 seasons on the Syracuse staff. That was also where he played college basketball, helping Syracuse to the 2003 national championship. As one of the best players in program history, his No. 3 jersey was retired by Syracuse in 2023.
