Despite a tumble from No. 1 to No. 5 in the HERO Sports College Football Rankings, prompted by several unimpressive wins, Clemson remains a heavy favorite to reach the College Football Playoff for the fifth consecutive year.
Clemson is 6-0 after defeating Florida State in Week 7 and following losses by previously ranked teams Wake Forest and Texas A&M, may finish the regular season without playing a ranked opponent. That's one reason why the Tigers might be the biggest lock to make the playoff; their schedule is remarkably soft.
