It's no surprise as Garrett was projected by most to be the No. 1 overall selection. The Browns were rumored to be picking between Garrett and North Carolina quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.
The Browns also have the No. 12 pick in the draft and could trade up if they still want to grab Trubisky.
Garrett totaled 32.5 sacks and 48.5 tackles for a loss in his three years at Texas A&M. He compiled 145 total tackles and 84 solo tackles in 36 games.
At the NFL combine he measured in at 6-foot-4, 272 pounds, with 35 1/4" arms and 10 1/4" hands. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.64 seconds, did 33 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press, jumped a vertical of 41.0 inches and a broad of 128.0 inches.
Garrett is the first No. 1 overall selection out of Texas A&M in the school's history.
