I'm not about to dock a team's starting quarterback who gets hurt in the first half of the first game with his new squad.
Speight was 8 of 12 for 45 yards and one interception before injuring his back and giving way to highly ineffective Dorian Thompson-Robinson. It remains to be seen who will start behind center on Saturday.
Next Up: Who would have ever imagined the Bruins as 30-point underdogs, which is currently the case for this weekend's road trip to Oklahoma.

4. Tyler Vander Waal — Wyoming
The freshman from Elk Grove, California, will see better days.
He was serviceable in a week 0 win over New Mexico State in which the Cowboys rode the coattails of 312 yards rushing. The same can't be said for Saturday's 41-19 home loss to Washington State in which Vander Waal was just 8 of 20 for 67 yards and a pick.
Next Up: Things won't get more comfortable for Wyoming as they must travel to SEC country to take on Missouri.

3. Jawon Pass — Louisville
Just a brutal opener as Pass took over the reigns left dangling by former Heisman winner Lamar Jackson.
It could've been much worse against the nation's best defense. Pass went 20 of 39 for 252 yards, two touchdowns, and two picks in what should be the team's most challenging opponent of the year.
Next Up: Pass will have a better go of things on Saturday against FCS foe Indiana State. The Sycamores defeated D2 Quincy last week for its first win since 2016.

2. JT Daniels — USC
After continuously bogging down in the red zone to the tune of four first-half field goals, Daniels connected with Amon-Ra St. Brown on a beautiful 43-yard TD to bust things open against UNLV Saturday afternoon.
Only the second freshman to line up behind center for a Trojans season opener in program history, the 18-year old finished the afternoon with 282 yards through the air on 22 of 35 passing.
Next Up: Welcome to the big time kid as USC travels to The Farm to take on Stanford in a massive Pac-12 showdown.

1. Kyler Murray — Oklahoma
Taking over for a Heisman winner is never easy, but Murray made it look so during a near-flawless performance against FAU. The junior went 9 of 11 for 209 yards and two TD passes, including a pair of 65-yard touchdown strikes to Lee Morris and Marquise Brown.
Next Up: With UCLA banged up, expect to see Murray go off again.
