Answer
Minnesota
Frequent visitors of HERO Sports knew the answer.
Twelve days after TCU's demolished Northern Illinois in the 2006 Poinsettia Bowl, Minnesota athletics director Joel Maturi fired head coach Tim Brewster and immediately called Gary Patterson. The then-46-year-old Patterson interviewed for the vacancy but, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, quickly withdrew his name from consideration.
However, Patterson had second thoughts and, with the position still unfilled, called Maturi to say he would take the job if offered. Maturi didn't make the offer, instead offering — and eventually hiring — Denver Broncos' tight ends coach Tim Brewster.
