Minnesota Lynx point guard Crystal Dangerfield was named Rookie of the Month for August the league announced earlier this week. This is the second-consecutive Rookie of the Month Dangerfield has won this season after winning in August.
The five-foot-six guard led the Lynx in scoring at 17.4 points per game to go along with 3.6 assists per game. The rest of her stat line consisted of 2.0 rebounds, shot 50-percent from the field and 92-percent from the free throw line in September. She has started all 19 of the 21 total Minnesota contests so far this season.
The former University of Connecticut star was also named the AP Rookie of the Year earlier this week. After getting selected by the Lynx in the second round of the 2020 WNBA Draft, Dangerfield proved very quickly her position in the league. Her point totals ranks No. 14 in the league and second amongst all rookies. Dangerfield holds a confidence, control and IQ that makes her unique, and what honestly was overlooked headed into last years draft.
The AP tabbed Dallas’ Satou Sabally, Atlanta’s Chennedy Carter, Indiana’s Julie Allemand and New York’s Jazmine Jones all to the All-WNBA Rookie team.
Minnesota finished No. 4 overall in the standings with an overall record of 14-8. They’re finished earned them a first round bye and they will face the Phoenix Mercury this Thursday, September 17 at 7:00pm ET on ESPN2.
