AAC College Football Predictions & Best Bets, Week 2

The AAC lost teams like Cincinnati and Houston this offseason. But with programs like Tulane, UTSA, and SMU, it should still be a strong Group of Five league this year.

Here’s a look at some of my favorite AAC bets for Week 2.

Ole Miss vs. Tulane Prediction: Over/Under Total Points

For Ole Miss vs. Tulane in Week 2, I predict the teams will go Under 67 points.

Tulane just proved why it’s No. 1 in the HERO Sports G5 Top 25 Rankings. The Green Wave are a complete team, meaning their defense is going to be spectacular in 2023.

Ole Miss just put up 73 points against Mercer and is No. 20 in the Associated Press Top 25. But I think Tulane’s defense brings another type of challenge, and I expect the Rebels’ defense to give Tulane some issues, so I don’t see this being a high-scoring game.

Prediction: Under 67

SMU vs. Oklahoma Prediction: Over/Under Total Points

For SMU vs. Oklahoma in Week 2, I predict the teams will go Under 69 points.

SMU’s win last week over Louisiana Tech felt pretty decisive. And that was while scoring just 38 points.

I see Oklahoma winning, maybe even by double digits. But I don’t anticipate the Sooners will score 73 points like they did against Arkansas State last week. SMU is one of the best G5 teams in the country, so I don’t expect the Mustangs will allow enough points for this to be a blowout.

Prediction: Under 69

Ohio vs. FAU: Spread Bet

For Ohio vs. FAU in Week 2, I predict FAU will cover the spread at -3.5.

FAU started the year with a 42-20 victory over Monmouth, as Casey Thompson threw for 280 yards and Larry McCammon III ran for 125. The Owls are well-balanced right now, which could be a problem for Ohio.

With Kurtis Rourke sidelined due to an injury last week, the Bobcats beat Long Island by just 17 points. If Ohio is without Rourke again, I could see FAU taking advantage and winning by at least a touchdown.

Prediction: FAU -3.5
