Now is the time for one of the most anticipated events of the college football season – and no, it’s not the College Football Playoff.
The 126th Army-Navy game will feature two winning programs and, once again, the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy will be on line as both teams beat Air Force this year – and both games were decided by three points.
Navy was in position to win the American Conference early on this season. The Midshipmen (9-2, 7-1) opened the year with a seven-game winning streak, and most of those games were decided by double digits.
But then Navy lost back-to-back games on the road to North Texas and Notre Dame. That effectively took the Midshipmen out of the league championship and CFP pictures.
But that didn’t stop Navy from pulling off two of its best wins of the year to close the regular season. The Midshipmen went and beat No. 24-ranked South Florida 41-38 and Memphis 28-17 in their most recent contests.
And now they’ll be aiming to keep the CIC Trophy with another win over Army.

After winning the American last season, the Black Knights (6-5, 4-4) have been wildly inconsistent. For example, they opened the year with an upset loss to FCS Tarleton State. But then they went and beat Power Four Kansas State the very next week.
Army lost its next two games against North Texas and East Carolina, then won back-to-back contests against UAB and Charlotte. The Black Knights have won three of their last five games against Air Force, Temple, and UTSA – but those games were all decided by three points or less. The Black Knights also lost to Tulane and Tulsa during that stretch, but those were also one-possession games.
One thing is for certain: Army and Navy will both want to be playing at their best in the latest edition of one of the most storied rivalries in the sport.

Army vs. Navy Prediction
I predict Navy will win but Army will cover the 6.5-point spread. I also project the game will go Over 38.5 total points.
Navy and Army have two of the best rushing offenses in the country. The Midshipmen are first in the FBS with 289.4 yards per game on the ground, while the Black Knights are fifth with 256.9 YPG rushing. They’ve combined for 62 rushing touchdowns this season, with Navy accounting for 38 of those TDs.
But neither of these teams are in the top 50 in the FBS in terms of rushing defense. That’s why I think these offenses could be more productive than what we usually see in this rivalry.
But I also anticipate this will be a close game, similar to how these two teams matched up with Air Force.
I like Army’s roster. With Cale Hellums at quarterback and linebackers Andon Thomas and Kalib Fortner leading the defense, I think the Black Knights probably should’ve won more games than they have in 2025.
But I like Navy’s roster just a little bit more.
I expect senior quarterback Blake Horvath to have another memorable game. I expect Eli Heidenreich and other Midshipmen will make critical plays on offense. I expect G5 All-American defensive lineman Landon Robinson and the rest of Navy’s defense to rise to the occasion.
And I ultimately expect the Midshipmen will keep the CIC Trophy.
