Ashton Jeanty is widely regarded as a unique prospect at the running back position. But there’s been little consensus regarding the Boise State star’s landing spot in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Trying to project where he could go is difficult. He’s a running back from the Group of Five. That’s two reasons right there why teams might think twice about taking him early. But he’s played well even against the best programs in the country and nearly set the FBS single-season rushing yards record in 2024.
But as we get closer to the draft, it’s possible his future is becoming clearer.
Ashton Jeanty Draft Odds
The Chicago Bears are the betting favorites to select Ashton Jeanty at -190, per BetMGM, and Jeanty is also the favorite to be the fifth overall selection at -300. For both of those to take place, the Bears would have to trade up from the 10th overall pick to the fifth.
The Jacksonville Jaguars were the favorites to take Jeanty as recently as Thursday morning, and the Jaguars have the fifth overall pick.

Ashton Jeanty-Bears Rumors
The Chicago Bears became the betting favorites to draft Ashton Jeanty on Thursday.
It is an intriguing situation. The Bears absolutely needed help up front, both on offense and defense, going into the offseason. But they mostly took care of that by adding interior O-linemen Joe Thuney and Jonah Jackson, center Drew Dalman, defensive tackle Grady Jarrett, and defensive end Dayo Odeyingbo.
That doesn’t necessarily mean the Bears can’t still draft an offensive lineman or a pass rusher. But a strong rushing attack certainly would help Caleb Williams and the Bears, so it would be a logical pick for Chicago.
Jaguars-Ashton Jeanty Rumors
The Jaguars have the second-best betting odds to draft Ashton Jeanty at +135. They have the fifth overall pick, and it seems very possible that Jeanty goes somewhere in that range.
But I don’t think running back should be a priority for this team. Travis Etienne and Tank Bigsby are still on the roster and are capable of giving the Jaguars some life on offense. I believe the Jaguars should focus on defense in this draft.
Ashton Jeanty-Raiders Rumors
The Raiders have the third-best betting odds to draft Ashton Jeanty at +850. They were the favorites to pick him for weeks.
The Raiders have proven they’re willing to take running backs in the first round and could conceivably go in almost any direction. But going into Pete Carroll’s first season as Las Vegas’ head coach, I’m expecting the Raiders will look elsewhere for a running back.
Ashton Jeanty Draft Prediction
I predict Ashton Jeanty will be drafted by the Chicago Bears with the 10th overall pick.
The Bears make the most sense in terms of team need, where they’re at as a franchise overall, and where they’re drafting. Anyone could trade up for Jeanty, including the Bears. But I believe the other teams drafting in that range have more glaring weaknesses right now.
New Bears head coach Ben Johnson heavily relied on the ground game to set up the passing attack for success when he was the offensive coordinator in Detroit. Prioritizing running back, especially when the Bears have already addressed so many other needs, just makes sense.
Ashton Jeanty Stats
Jeanty finished the 2024 season with 2,601 yards on the ground. He ran for 29 touchdowns on 374 carries, breaking school records for yards, TDs, and rushing attempts.
Jeanty also set Boise State’s single-game records for rushing yards and touchdowns when he recorded 267 yards and six TDs on the ground in a season-opening win over Georgia Southern.
Jeanty proved he could compete against power conference defenses as well when he ran for 192 yards and three scores against Oregon.
Many great running backs have played at Boise State. But Jeanty concluded his three-year career there with the records for rushing yards (4,769), yards per carry (6.36), and yards per game (119.2).
