With the help of an eight-game win streak, Tulane had no problem going over last year’s projected win total.
College football betting odds had the Green Wave’s win total at Over/Under 7.5 games entering the season. They picked up their eighth win in Week 11 with a 52-6 victory over Temple. Tulane won its next game against Navy but dropped the final three contests to finish 9-5.
Expectations are a little higher ahead of the 2025 season with the Green Wave’s Over/Under at 8.5. Can they eclipse their preseason win total for the fourth year in a row?
How Many Games Will Tulane Win In 2025?
Last year’s schedule featured two Power Four matchups against Kansas State and Oklahoma, and the Green Wave dropped both of them. This year’s slate has three P4 games in the first four weeks of the season. I think Tulane can win two of them.
The Green Wave open the season at home against Northwestern and are currently 7.5-point favorites. I like them to win this game and also knock off Duke in Week 3. In between those games, they’ll pay a visit to South Alabama, which could be a relatively tough trip, but they should handle business there to start the season 3-0 ahead of a visit to Ole Miss.
Tulane’s first AAC game comes in Week 5 at Tulsa, and I anticipate the Green Wave will have no issues there. The next month will feature some tough conference foes, however, with East Carolina, Army, UTSA, Memphis, and FAU all on tap consecutively. I predict Tulane will win at least three of these games and will especially be out for revenge against Army, which dominated Tulane in last year’s AAC championship game. This stretch could make or break Tulane’s College Football Playoff hopes.
The final two games should be more manageable against Temple and Charlotte, and I expect Tulane to end the season much differently than it did in 2024.
How Many Games Will Tulane Lose In 2025?
I think the first game the Green Wave will drop will be the Week 4 contest at Ole Miss. Tulane played the Rebels tough in 2023 but ultimately fell 37-20.
I also think the Green Wave lose to either UTSA or Memphis. Both contests are on the road and both are weeknight tilts, with the game at UTSA on a Thursday and the Memphis matchup on a Friday. Both Tulane and UTSA will be coming off byes while Memphis travels to Rice the week before its meeting with the Green Wave.
There’s always the chance Tulane loses both of these games, but I think they find a way to win at least one of them.
Tulane Football Win Total Prediction
Winning nine games when playing in the AAC isn’t easy to do, and especially with the gauntlet October slate the Green Wave have. However, I think head coach Jon Sumrall’s squad does enough in the non-conference part of the schedule to make nine wins attainable.
I don’t see Tulane losing more than three games during the regular season.
