American Conference Championship Prediction & Analysis
I predict UTSA will win the American in 2026. The Roadrunners have a lot going for them.
That includes having quarterback Owen McCown back for his senior season. But I like UTSA’s roster overall. With Jeff Traylor at head coach, UTSA has been a solid team since leaving Conference USA for the American but haven’t been truly in the mix for a league title. I think this is a season they put it all together.
Navy and Army are going to be in the mix as well, in my opinion. They don’t get affected by the transfer portal nearly as much as other teams like Tulane and North Texas were this offseason. Both programs develop talent exceptionally well, so I think they’re going to be competitive again.
A dark horse for me: USF. Bulls head coach Alex Golesh and quarterback Byrum Brown are now gone, but I think Brian Hartline will help the program continue to be one of the best in the American.
