Conference USA is wide open this year with several teams like UTSA and North Texas moving on to the AAC. But programs like Western Kentucky and newcomer Liberty should give people reason to watch out for CUSA this year.
Here’s a look at some of my favorite CUSA bets for Week 2.

UTEP vs. Northwestern Prediction: Spread Bet
For UTEP vs. Northwestern in Week 2, I predict UTEP will cover the spread at -1.5.
It’s not very often a Conference USA team is favored on the road against a Power Five opponent, but UTEP is. Northwestern is coming off a 24-7 loss to Rutgers.
Meanwhile, UTEP just beat Incarnate Word by a couple touchdowns, and the Miners’ offense and defense have both shown some potential. I think they can keep that momentum going here.
Prediction: UTEP -1.5
North Texas vs. FIU Prediction: Spread Bet
For North Texas vs. FIU in Week 2, I predict North Texas will cover the spread at -13.5 points.
I believe North Texas is a strong team this year. The Mean Green kept their matchup last week with Cal close until the Golden Bears outscored UNT 25-0 in the second half.
I don’t think that happens in this game. The Mean Green should bounce back and put together a good performance against FIU, which is still trying to find its groove offensively.
Prediction: North Texas -13.5

Air Force vs. Sam Houston Prediction: Over/Under Total Points
For Air Force vs. Sam Houston in Week 2, I predict the teams will go Under 37.5 total points.
This Over/Under total is low for a season. Air Force just limited Robert Morris to seven points last week after allowing the fewest yards and third-fewest points per game in the country last year.
And while the Bearkats have some problems on offense, they showed their defense can compete at a high level by limiting BYU to 14 points last week. I think this could end up being a 28-7 type of game.
Prediction: Under 37.5
