A five-star recruit out of high school, Clay Webb expected his collegiate career to go much differently than it did.
The standout offensive guard from Oxford, Alabama, played for three seasons at Georgia. But after never playing more than 25 snaps in a season, he transferred to Jacksonville State.
The move turned out to set Webb up for success. He became a two-time Group of Five All-American and was regarded as one of the best in the country at his position. He helped Jax State move to the FBS and was key for the Gamecocks during their Conference USA Championship season in 2024.
Now Webb could see even more success at the next level.

Clay Webb NFL Mock Draft Projection In 2025
I project Clay Webb will be selected in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
I don’t believe Webb will drop much on the third day of the draft solely because he played for a Group of Five school. But trying to find the best position for him in the pros might be a little difficult.
Is it better for him to stay at guard? Or are his frame and abilities better suited for center? Either way, I think a team will have that decision made up going into the draft and will see a great deal of potential in him considering he’ll probably be a mid-round pick.
What Was Clay Webb’s 40 Time At The NFL Combine?

Webb really stood out during the bench press, as his 29 reps was fourth among 17 offensive linemen and tied for sixth among all players who participated.
He also recorded a vertical jump of 31 inches, which was 15th among 28 O-linemen, a broad jump of 8 feet, 11 inches, which was 20th among 29 at his position group, and a 20-yard shuttle time of 4.9 seconds, which was 17th of 19 offensive linemen at the combine.

Among guards who played at least 500 snaps in 2024, Webb was top 10 in Pro Football Focus’ overall grades and run blocking grades. In 2023, he was No. 1 in PFF’s overall grades while ranking in the top five for both run blocking and pass blocking.

Clay Webb’s NFL Comparison & 2025 NFL Draft Profile
I believe some elements of Clay Webb’s game are comparable to Wyatt Teller. They are of similar size and both can perform at an equally high level on running and passing downs.
Webb’s strength that he displayed at the NFL Combine shows up on tape. He often moved defensive tackles off the ball. He also maintains good leverage, which was especially critical in the run game.
Webb also possesses good quickness for his size. He either climbed to the second level or pulled from his guard spot in a hurry and often overpowered linebackers when he did.
That quickness also helped him in pass protection. No matter what moves pass rushers tried, Webb usually stayed in front of them. While his athleticism would set him up well to play guard, he could also move to center and would likely have what it takes to be a contributor for an NFL team there as well.
Because of his skills, Webb could become an important piece of a pro offensive line in the near future.
