Memphis relied on Roc Taylor to lift the Tigers’ offense constantly. Even if the wide receiver was double covered deep downfield.
Memphis was facing Navy this past season in an AAC matchup, and the Tigers had the ball on the Midshipmen’s 37-yard line on third-and-3 early in the third quarter. With pressure en route, Memphis quarterback Seth Henigan could’ve looked for an easy short pass or scrambled to pick up a first down and keep the drive alive.
Instead, Henigan threw deep to Taylor, who had two defenders trailing him near the end zone. The pass was just out of reach for those Navy players, and Taylor adjusted to the ball perfectly. Even with those opponents draped all over him trying to force an incompletion, he kept his focus on the ball. He hauled in the pass and landed his knee in bounds for a touchdown.
Taylor made plays like this often during his career. He proved he has the potential to become an NFL player.
Roc Taylor NFL Draft Projection In 2025
I predict Roc Taylor will be selected in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Projections for where Taylor will go in the draft vary. However, I think he’ll be picked early on Day 3 after he received an invite to the NFL Combine.

Taylor made major improvements after the first two years of his collegiate career, leading to a pair of All-AAC nods.

Taylor was significantly better after that point. He made the all-conference second team after catching 69 passes for 1,083 yards and four touchdowns in 2023. He was on the All-AAC first team this past season after tallying 66 receptions for 950 yards and two scores.

Roc Taylor’s NFL Comparison & 2025 NFL Draft Profile
I believe some elements of Roc Taylor’s game are comparable to Davante Adams. I don’t necessarily believe Taylor will be an All-Pro, but Adams rarely drops passes, runs textbook routes, and often makes tip-toe catches along the sideline. I see some of that when watching Taylor’s tape.
Taylor was a deep threat at Memphis who primarily lined up on the outside. Among all FBS wide receivers who were targeted at least 85 times, Taylor was 11th with an average depth of target of 14.5 yards.
And that was for good reason. Taylor is phenomenal in 50-50 situations when the ball is in the air and he needs to outjump a defender for a catch. He adjusts well to throws and often makes highlight catches along the sidelines as well. He tied for fourth in the country with 18 contested catches in 2024.
But he brings much more to the table. He’s a dependable pass catcher, for example. He dropped just four throws in 2024, which was less than top wide receiver prospects like Tetairoa McMillan and Emeka Egbuka.
Taylor gains separation because of his route-running abilities. He also possesses impressive quickness. Taylor may not have had the fastest 40 time at the combine, but his 10-yard split of 1.53 seconds was among the top third of all players at the event.
Taylor is a dependable playmaker, and I imagine NFL teams will value that on the third day of the draft.
