Miami (Ohio) has had a tough non-conference schedule for a Group of Five program.
The RedHawks have had to take on two Power Four opponents, Northwestern and Cincinnati. And despite being competitive in both games, with an average scoring margin of nine points, Miami (Ohio) is 0-2 overall.
But it doesn’t get easier this week. The RedHawks are going on the road to face No. 18-ranked Notre Dame, which has already lost to a MAC team after falling to Northern Illinois in Week 2 and will be motivated to not suffer another G5 loss.

Miami (Ohio) vs. Notre Dame Prediction
I predict Miami (Ohio) will win and cover the spread at +28. I also project the game will go Under 43.5 total points.
After winning the MAC a season ago, the RedHawks have been very competitive against talented programs in 2024. And Notre Dame has already proven to be vulnerable.
I think it’s easy to look at the Fighting Irish’s 66-7 win at Purdue a week ago and think their offensive issues have been sorted out. But quarterback Riley Leonard only passed for 112 yards while rushing for 100 yards and three touchdowns.
The key to this game will be the RedHawks’ defense. If they can contain Leonard and force him to throw, which they’re capable of doing, then I think this will be similar to NIU’s win over Notre Dame.
And on the other side of the ball, RedHawks quarterback Brett Gabbert hasn’t been perfect. But he does have what it takes to help his team score enough points for Miami to have a chance.
