Midway through the season, after being viewed as a preseason contender for the AAC Championship, UTSA appeared like it might not even make a bowl game.
But the Roadrunners refused to let that happen. They won four of their last six contests, including victories over Memphis and North Texas. UTSA ended the regular season with a five-point loss at Army, which went on to win the AAC.
Coastal Carolina, on the other hand, played extremely well early on this year, winning four of its first five contests with the Chanticleers’ only loss during that stretch being against Virginia.
But CCU lost five of its next six games, preventing the Chanticleers from competing for a Sun Belt Championship. It also nearly prevented them from being bowl-eligible.
But CCU won its regular season finale at Georgia Southern to improve to 6-6.
Now UTSA and CCU, two .500 squads, will see each other in the Myrtle Beach Bowl.

Coastal Carolina vs. UTSA Prediction
I predict UTSA will win and cover the spread at -11.5. I also project the game will go Over 55.5 total points.
This time of year in college football, so much is difficult to predict. Teams are seeing changes to their coaching staffs, not just with head coaches but with positional coaches as well. Players are announcing their intentions to enter the transfer portal or declare for the NFL Draft, so teams are sometimes missing half of their rosters during bowl season.
But, generally speaking, I like how UTSA is playing recently. The Roadrunners have been on a hot streak since October and don’t appear to be slowing down as a program.
I think UTSA head coach Jeff Traylor will scheme up a way to put up some points in this contest and will help the Roadrunners win by two touchdowns.
