After losses against Syracuse and Boise State, UNLV looked like it might not even make the Mountain West Championship this season.
But with a Colorado State loss last week, the Rebels are not only a win away from another appearance in the conference title game, they still have a chance to make it to the College Football Playoff if some things go their way.
But first, they have to take care of business this week to secure a spot in the league title game. During UNLV’s regular season finale, the Rebels will host Nevada – and that may not be an easy game.

Nevada vs. UNLV Prediction
I predict UNLV will win but Nevada will cover the spread at +17.5. I also project the game will go Under 55.5 total points.
Yes, I know Nevada hasn’t won a single Mountain West game. But I also know that, during Jeff Choate’s first season as head coach, the Wolf Pack have been competitive in almost all of their games. Their losses against SMU, Georgia Southern, San Jose State, Fresno State, Boise State, and Air Force have been decided by seven points or less.
So I expect this to be another close contest. UNLV has won three straight games since losing to Boise State about a month ago, but only one of those (a 41-20 victory over San Diego State) wasn’t a close game.
UNLV is a great team, and I expect the Rebels to find a way to win at home. But I think Nevada will continue to be tough defensively.
